Science Behind the Formula
Vitamin E is a natural moisturizer
Shea butter is rich in Vitamins A and E which are recognized as the essential vitamins for skin care. These antioxidants heal and prevent cell damage caused by toxic substances called free radicals. Vitamin A maintains the firmness and elasticity of the skin while Vitamin E is mainly moisturizing.
Arrowroot is a starch obtained from the rhizomes (rootstock) of several tropical plants, traditionally Maranta arundinacea and helps to absorb moisture.
Baking soda neutralizes strong and unwanted odors and has detoxifying effects that help balance pH levels in the body by neutralizing acidic or alkaline properties in the body.
Rose absolute oil is traditionally calming and uplifting, and has anti-inflammatory, cooling and soothing properties. It works well for dry, hot, inflamed, or itchy skin. It can also work well for preventing scarring, treating broken capillaries, and even for relieving stress. Studies have also shown rose oil to have antimicrobial properties. In 2010, Chinese researchers published a study uncovering that rose absolute oil exhibited one of the strongest vectors for killing bacteria.
Stress and anxiety relief – A 2009 study of 40 healthy volunteers found that applying rose oil to the skin led to a greater relaxation response than a placebo oil. Those who received rose oil also decreased their breathing rate and blood pressure more than those who received a placebo.7
