Science Behind the Ingredients:

Himalayan Sea Salt:

Himalayan salt, also known as Himalayan crystal salt, is a type of rock salt best known for its striking pink color which comes from the natural presence of several trace minerals, including magnesium and iodine. Himalayan salt is unrefined and hand-mined from caves in northern Pakistan. It is rich in magnesium and calcium, which improves hydration by strengthening the barrier function of the skin

It is great for use on the face since:

  •          it promotes pH Balance
  •          helps to reduce the appearance of fines lines with its ability to help the skin retain water. The minerals in the salt are               hydroscopic, meaning they attract water, so when you put them on the skin, they actually draw moisture and nutrients from the deeper levels of the skin up to the epidermis.
  •          Is a natural antiseptic

Peppermint Oil:

Antiseptic -an antimicrobial substance that reduce the possibility of infection

• Astringent- to minimize pore size and clean out the dirt

Tea Tree Oil:

Antiseptic/Antimicrobial - Because tea tree oil can kill bacteria, applying topical tea tree oil to acne lesions has been thought to destroy Propionibacterium acnes, the skin-dwelling bacteria that is involved in the development of acne.

Vitamin D3: Wound healing

Vitamin D is indispensable to the health, beauty, and longevity of the largest organ in the body - your skin. If adequate amounts of vitamin D are not available, your epidermal cells won’t  form a watertight barrier that locks in moisture and keeps your skin soft and supple. As a result, the outer layer of your skin may become thinner and more fragile. It begins to sag from lack of adequate support. Dryness and wrinkles set in as moisture is gradually lost to the outside.

Vitamin D3 regulates the expression of cathelicidin (LL-37/hCAP18) [53], [57], an antimicrobial protein that appears to mediate innate immunity in skin by promoting wound healing and tissue repair.
